Who we are
At Glenwood Springs Middle School we love working together to teach and learn and we strive to keep joy present each day. We are proud to have the opportunity to serve a diverse population of approximately 380 students in grades 6-8 in the beautiful mountain town of Glenwood Springs. We are an EL Education school that encourages students to be leaders of their own learning and we work to create the conditions that allow students to be their best. We publicly celebrate our work; we share our progress in student-led conferences; we serve our community; we tend to our Crew; and we think of learning as an adventure.

Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS)
RFSD will be administering the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS), the state’s most comprehensive youth health survey for grades 6-12, from October 6-17, 2025. The survey asks about topics such as safety, mental health, relationships, and substance use, and the information collected will help RFSD understand student needs, track trends in youth health and wellbeing, and plan programs and services that support students. The survey is anonymous, and students will not include their name or any other identifying information. Students are encouraged to skip any questions they don’t understand or don’t feel comfortable answering.
Parents and guardians may opt their student(s) out of the survey. A digital Parent/Guardian Opt-Out Form, a Parent/Guardian Information Letter (with middle school and high school survey links), and HKCS FAQs are linked below. Hard copies of the paper form are also available at your school’s front desk. Please review and return opt-out forms by Friday, October 3, 2025.
If you have questions, please contact: Michelle Lee, RFSD Data and Assessment Coordinator (970) 382-7994 mlee@rfschools.com

Sep 8, 2025 · Roaring Fork SchoolsSpecial Education Program Review
Roaring Fork Schools recently completed a detailed review of our special education programs, policies, and practices. The goal was to better understand what’s working well and where we can improve, from classroom environments and access to the general curriculum, to inclusive practices and support services. The study gathered feedback through focus groups, interviews, and classroom visits, and will help guide priorities for high-quality, inclusive programs that lead to positive outcomes for students with disabilities.
You can read more about the report here.
We also invite families to join us at the Family Advisory Council meeting on Sept. 16. For more information contact Sonia Roldan at sroldan@rfshcools.com
